Leicester spent 140 days at the bottom of the Premier League table in 2014/15, the most ever in a single season by a team that has avoided relegation since it’s inception in 1992.
Jamie Vardy also only scored five goals in 34 league appearances that season, so when Leicester were labelled a 5000/1 shot for the title ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, those odds looked more than generous!
Vardy scored the opening goal in the 2015/16 season, laying down a marker for what was to come. His run of scoring in 11 consecutive games equalling the record set by Ruud Van Nistleroy and helped propel Leicester towards the most improbable title winning season of all time.
But with all the media attention and spotlight on the Leicester City frontman, it was only a matter of time before journalists started digging for dirt. Apart from a WKD lifestyle reminiscent of pretty much any decent football loving lad from Sheffield, the best they could do was unearth a Facebook post, dating back to 2011. Vardy was playing non-league football and the time and had abruptly put some trolling fans back in their place with the now infamous phrase: ‘Chat Shit, Get Banged’
